NORTON, Mass. - Wheaton College senior David Longley (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) has been selected to participate in the 38th annual New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-Star Game on Monday, June 4 at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Named to the Division III Senior All-Stars, Longley enters the College World Series leading Wheaton in both appearances (21) and earned run average (0.90). He owns a 3-0 record, averages close to one strikeout per inning (26 strikeouts in 30 IP), and picked up a win in relief against Trinity (Conn.) at last week's NCAA New England Regional in Mansfield, Conn.
Longley's 21 appearances this season is tied for No. 8 on Wheaton's single-season record list while his 61 career appearances place him in a tie for fourth place. He becomes the 16th student-athlete in program history selected to participate in the game, and he was the only student-athletes chosen from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).
The Lyons (38-9) open play at the 2012 College World Series on Friday, May 25 with a 10 a.m. contest against Webster.
