Baseball Drops Doubleheader Against Babson

GAME ONE: Wheaton 2 - Babson 6

RECORDS: Wheaton (10-10, 5-2 NEWMAC) - Babson (14-7, 5-2 NEWMAC)

LOCATION: Norton, Mass. (Sidell Stadium)

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • Wheaton was led from a 2-for-4 performance from Trevor Marques, while Matt Cook ended the contest 2-for-5 from the plate, with Marques ending the day with a double. Jared Sharkey, who went 1-for-3, also ended the contest with a double. 
  • Eric Jaun led the Beavers with a 3-for-5 performance, while Nicholas Browne ended the game 2-for-4. 
  • The scoring began in the fourth inning, starting with three runs for the Beavers, which began with a solo homerun from Mark Webber. Trailing 3-0, Marques earned a run back for the Lyons in the bottom of the fourth with a double to right center that plated Bryant Salkind
  • Babson added two more runs in the fifth before tacking on another run in the eighth. 
  • Wheaton added its final run of the game in the bottom of the eighth with Sharkey coming around to score on a passed ball. Sharkey reached on a one out double, before moving to third on a groundout from Marques.

LOCATION: Norton, Mass. (Sidell Stadium)

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • Willy Boyd finished game two 1-for-1 with a walk, while Marques and Chris Ruocco each went 1-for-3 with Ruocco also walking once. 
  • Wheaton started the scoring in the third winning with a double from Ruocco, which scored Boyd and Ryan McKeon, while an error allowed Ruocco to move home. 
  • The Beavers tied the game at 2-2 in the sixth inning with an RBI single from Sean Harrington and a fielder's choice from Matthew Valente
  • Nick Raposo came around in the bottom of the sixth on a passed ball, handing Wheaton a 3-2 lead. Raposo reached on a one out single to left, before stealing second and advancing to third on an error. 
  • With one out and a runner on first in the top of the ninth, Ryan Arena doubled down the left field line, sending David Lennon home, tying the game at 3-3. The Beavers scored what would prove to be the game-winning run with the next at bat with Arena scoring on a Webber single.
