NORTON, MA- Wheaton College field hockey sophomore Emily Asack (Stoughton, MA/Stoughton) was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week for the second time in five weeks for the week ending on Sunday, September 27.
Having shared the award on September 7, Asack is earning the outright honor for the first time. Leading Wheaton to a 2-0 week, including winning its NEWMAC opener, Asack recorded four goals on just seven shots to go alongside one assist.
During the Lyons' 3-2 victory on Saturday over Mount Holyoke College, Asack tallied and assisted another marker to help Wheaton claim a 2-0 lead by halftime. In the Blue and White's 8-0 win against Rivier College on Wednesday, she turned in a hat trick.
Asack has turned in a pair of multiple-goal games thus far, as she leads the team with nine goals, five assists and 23 points. Her point total already ties her for ninth in program history for a single season. Asack also has one game-winner.
At 5-3, Wheaton prepares for a tough week against non-conference foes Wesleyan University and two-time defending national champion Bowdoin College. The Lyons will play in the third contest of their six-game homestand on Tuesday versus Wesleyan at 4:00 p.m.
