Strock named NEWMAC Player of the Week for first time

NORTON, Mass. - Wheaton College field hockey senior co-captain Jessica Strock (Centerville, Mass./Barnstable) was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week for the first time in her career for the week ending on Sunday, September 26.

Strock tallied four goals and an assist during Wheaton's 2-0 week, as the Lyons extended their winning streak to six games.  In Saturday's 5-4 home victory over Clark University, Strock figured in four of Wheaton's goals, notching her third hat trick of the season while assisting the game-winner.  She also scored once during the Blue and White's 6-1 triumph at non-league foe Simmons College on Sunday.

Strock's 13 goals already place her fifth in program history for most tallies in a single season, while her 30 points are good for sixth.  Coming into this fall, Strock had career totals of 14 goals and 31 points in just over two years, as she missed all but one game in 2008 due to a season-ending injury.  For her career, Strock's 27 goals are tied for fourth in school annals, while her 61 points stand fifth.

Wheaton, which is 8-2 overall and 2-0 in league play, looks to make it seven straight wins on Saturday at conference opponent Mount Holyoke College at 1:00 p.m.
