NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College field hockey senior Emily Asack (Stoughton, Mass./Stoughton) is among 57 senior student-athletes who have been chosen to participate in the 2011 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Senior Game. The contest will be played on Saturday, November 19 at Nichols College in Dudley, Mass.
A First Team All-New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) selection, Asack led the Lyons in goals (16) and points (38) in 2011 as the Lyons were selected to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament for the fifth time in school history. She capped her career with a school-record 105 points and sits No. 2 in goals (44) and t-5th in assists (17).
"I am extremely excited to play," said Asack. "I am honored to have been chosen to represent Wheaton College in such a competitive environment. It will be a great challenge to play with some of the best players in the league. It is a nice ending to my senior year."
Asack is the fourth Wheaton student-athlete selected to play in this game, joining Shea Clarke '07, Sara Dimick '08, and Cassie Abel '10. She is one of six student-athletes from the NEWMAC who will appear in the game.
"Emily being selected to the senior all-star team demonstrates that hard work and determination pay off...and that speed kills," said Wheaton head coach Rebecca Begley. "Wheaton is proud to have Emily Asack represent the field hockey team at the 2011 Senior All Star game. She is an excellent representative of the program."
The Lyons finished the 2011 season with a 10-9 record, marking the fifth time in the last six seasons they have reached the 10-win plateau.
