McNamara garners second weekly Pilgrim accolade in five weeks

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College men's lacrosse sophomore Billy McNamara (Mansfield, MA/Northfield Mount Hermon School) was named Pilgrim League Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, April 4. The accolade is his second in five weeks.

McNamara played a role in 12 of the Lyons' 22 goals last week, scoring four while assisting eight during his team's 1-1 showing. In Wheaton's 12-9 win over Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on Saturday in its Pilgrim opener, McNamara scored once while posting five assists, including on the first three markers of the game.

In a narrow 11-10 setback on Wednesday at Amherst College, McNamara had a hat trick and three helpers, assisting the tying marker with 1:44 remaining.

McNamara paces Wheaton with 16 goals and 27 points, while his 11 assists are one off the team lead. He is also tied for second on the squad with a pair of man-up markers.

The Lyons carry a 3-3 overall mark while having gone 1-0 thus far in Pilgrim play. Wheaton is off until Saturday, when it hosts Babson College at 1:00 p.m.
