McNamara earns third player-of-the-week honor in six weeks
NORTON, MA- Wheaton College men's lacrosse sophomore Billy McNamara (Mansfield, MA/Northfield Mount Hermon School) was named Pilgrim League Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, April 11, marking the third time in the past six weeks McNamara earned the honor, including for the second in a row.
In Wheaton's lone game of the week, McNamara paced the Lyon attack with four goals and three assists in his team's 15-9 home victory over Babson College. McNamara scored four times during a 7-0 run that spanned the second and third quarters before assisting the Blue and White's initial two tallies of the fourth.
McNamara leads the Pilgrim in goals per game and points per game and is ranked second in assists per contest. He has netted 20 goals while assisting 14 more, as the attacker has tallied at least five points in five contests. McNamara has recorded five hat tricks.
At 4-3 overall, the Lyons are currently 2-0 in the league. They break until Saturday, when they travel to Springfield College for a rematch of the past two Pilgrim League Tournament title games. It will also mark a match-up between the final two teams undefeated in conference play.
