McNamara garners first regional accolade with ECAC All-Star nod
NORTON, MA- Wheaton College men's lacrosse rising junior Billy McNamara (Mansfield, MA/Northfield Mount Hermon School) garnered his first regional accolade with his selection to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star third team.
McNamara is one of 32 players to earn ECAC laurels, as 11 were placed on each the second and third teams. He was among six Pilgrim League student-athletes to land on any of the three squads.
An all-conference first-team honoree, McNamara ranked second in the league in goals (36) and assists (25) while finishing third in points (61). He turned in at least one point in 15 contests while collecting multiple goals in 10 games, including notching six hat tricks.
McNamara's point total was tied for the eighth best in school annals, and he was ninth in assists. Becoming the fourth Lyon of the spring and 16th in program history to surpass the 100-point milestone, McNamara already has 106 career points heading into his junior campaign.
Wheaton reached the Pilgrim League Tournament championship game for the third straight season, as the Lyons posted an 8-8 record. The Blue and White finished with at least eight wins for the third consecutive spring for the first time since 1994-96. Wheaton also tied for second in the Pilgrim League standings at 5-2.
