NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College junior Will Nesbitt (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) has been named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Nesbitt had a hand in a pair of game-winning goals for the Lyons last week. He picked up the primary assist on junior Max Swanson's (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) game-winning goal in a 3-1 win at New England College on Tuesday, then scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season in a 2-1 win at WPI on Saturday.
On the season, Nesbitt has 19 points (8-3-19) and a pair of game-winning goals. He becomes the first men's soccer student-athlete to receive NEWMAC weekly honors since Yuri Moreira was named Player of the Week on November 2, 2009.
Winners of three-straight and four of their last five matches, the Lyons (7-6-2, 3-1-0 NEWMAC) return to action on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. match against Bridgewater State at Keefe Field.
