Flaherty, Mena to participate in NEISL Senior All-Star Game
NORTON, Mass. - Wheaton College men's soccer seniors Matt Flaherty (Westlake Village, Calif./Worcester Academy) and Pablo Mena (San Salvador, El Salvador/American School of El Salvador) will compete in the 2011 New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) Senior All-Star Game on Sunday, November 27 at Harvard Stadium at 11 a.m.
Mena appeared in 18 matches (16 starts) and recorded four points (1-2-4) from the midfield position this season. Flaherty started all 19 games on defense and helped the Lyons post a 1.48 goals against average (GAA) en route to advancing to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Semifinal round.
A total of 10 student-athletes from the NEWMAC were selected to participate in the contest - three from Babson, two from Clark, MIT and Wheaton, and one from Coast Guard.
The Lyons completed the 2011 season with a record of 10-9-0 (4-2-0 NEWMAC).
