Wheaton programs honored for academic excellence

NORTON, MA- The Wheaton College men's and women's swimming & diving teams earned Scholar-Athlete Team accolades from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) in recognition of their academic success during the 2009 fall semester.

Wheaton joined Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as the lone New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) schools to have both squads represented, as teams are required to a meet a minimum grade-point average of 3.00.  The Lyon women posted a 3.21 GPA last fall, while the men came in at 3.00.

Having completed their regular seasons, the Wheaton teams are preparing for their conference championships.  The women head to Wellesley College for the three-day competition that begins on Friday, February 19, while the men host the NEWMAC meet one week later.
