Lyons upend Babson in women's swimming & diving 163-133; men's defeated by Beavers
NORTON, Mass. – The Wheaton College women's swimming & diving team defeated Babson College 163-133 while the men were edged by the Beavers 153.5-144.5 Saturday afternoon at Balfour Natatorium.
Junior Caroline Isaacs (San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) won three events: 200-yard free (2:04.65), 200-yard IM (2:22.35), and 500-yard free (5:34.51). Senior Sarah Miller (Madison, N.J./Madison) won both the 100-yard breast (1:13.83) and the 1,000-yard free (11:29.07) while classmate Taryn Brosnan (Westford, Mass./Academy of Notre Dame) won the 100-yard (1:02.85) and 200-yard butterfly (2:18.92).
Freshman Adrianne Madden (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) picked up a pair of wins as she took first in both the 50-yard (25.20) and 100-yard (56.72) free events. Madden also helped juniors Dana Auger (Milford, Mass./Milford) and Elle Van Cott (Back Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem Central), and freshman Cara Morris (Irvington, N.Y./Irvington) capture first-place in the 200-yard free relay (1:44.41).
On the men's side, senior Devon Best (Brentwood, Tenn./Ravenwood) secured the men's first win of the afternoon in the 100-yard back (58.89). Later, sophomore Sam Jackson (Darien, Conn./Darien) placed first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:17.35) while freshman Richard Jenkins (Bow, N.H./Bow) won the 200-yard back (2:06.62).
Over in the diving well, sophomore Charlie Maier (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln/Sudbury Regional) took home first-place in both the 1 mtr (262.73) and 3 mtr (267.83) diving events.
Wheaton returns to competition next Saturday when it hosts Tufts and WPI at 1 p.m. The Beavers compete at Bridgewater State Thursday at 6 p.m.
