NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College sophomore Charlie Maier (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) has been named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Diver of the Week.
The college's record-holder in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive events, Maier captured first-place in both events against Babson last Saturday at Balfour Natatorium. Maier scored a 262.73 in the 1-meter event and a 267.83 in the 3-meter event.
"Charlie has worked hard at increasing the level of difficulty (of his dives) and becoming an even stronger competitor in the NEWMAC than last year, so I am happy to see the conference recognize his achievements," said Lyons diving coach Katy Shoemaker. "I am really looking forward to what he will achieve in the next few weeks. I'm hopeful he can record another NCAA qualifying score."
The Lyons return to action on Saturday when they host Tufts University and WPI at 1 p.m.
