Altman lauded as NEWMAC's top singles player for third time

NORTON, MA- Wheaton College men's tennis junior Harry Altman (Riverdale, NY/The Dwight School) was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Singles Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, March 21. Altman drew the accolade for the third time in his career while earning his fourth weekly honor overall.

Altman went 2-1 during Wheaton's 1-2 week at Hilton Head, South Carolina. During the Lyons' 7-2 setback on Monday to Ithaca College, which is ranked 15th in the Northeast by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), Altman won 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 at six before notching a 6-2, 6-2 victory on Wednesday in a 5-1 win over the University of Scranton. His lone loss came against a foe from Denison University, which is ranked ninth in the Central region.

Altman has posted a 3-1 singles mark for the 3-2 Lyons while also going 5-1 during doubles action. Wheaton hosts the University of Massachusetts at Boston tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.
