NORTON, MA- Wheaton College men's tennis juniors Harry Altman (Riverdale, NY/The Dwight School) and Brian Krantz (Milford, CT/Joseph A. Foran) were recognized as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Doubles Team of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, April 11.
Earning their second career doubles honor after each being selected singes player of the week earlier this spring, Wheaton's third-doubles tandem went 3-1 during its team's 3-1 week, picking up victories in three straight days over the weekend to improve to 10-2 as a duo.
During an 8-1 Lyon win at Union College on Friday, Altman and Krantz earned an 8-3 victory before collecting an 8-4 triumph in Wheaton's 9-0 decision against visiting Clark University the next day. On Sunday, their 8-1 home win came in the Lyons' 7-2 victory against Colby-Sawyer College. Their lone loss was by an 8-6 score at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), which is ranked 27th nationally.
At 11-3 overall and in second place in the league with a 3-1 mark, the Lyons have been victorious in nine of their last 10 matches after a 2-2 start. Wheaton hosts non-league opponent Salem State College on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
