WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- Wheaton College men's tennis seniors Kyle Hudgins (Uxbridge, MA/Uxbridge) and James Little (Mount Desert, ME/Mount Desert Island) left Williams College with a doubles victory to highlight the Lyons' showing at the three-day Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Tournament.
On Friday, the duo knocked off a pair from New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe Clark University, 8-5 in the consolation bracket. In Friday's championship bracket, Hudgins and Little dropped an 8-6 decision to a tandem from Williams.
Sophomore Neall Oliver (Portland, ME/Deering) represented Wheaton in the open singles draw, falling in the championship bracket to a player from Tufts University on Friday before losing to an opponent from Williams on Saturday. After beginning the opening round with a 6-4 win in the first set, Oliver dropped the next two, 6-3 and 6-1. He completed play with a 6-0, 6-3 setback.
Wheaton will now turn its attention to the spring portion of the season, beginning with a four-match southern swing to Hilton Head, South Carolina, where the Lyons open play against Saint Norbert College of Wisconsin on Sunday, March 14, at 12:00 p.m.
