NORTON, Mass. - Wheaton College men's tennis senior Harry Altman (Riverdale, N.Y./The Dwight School) was tabbed New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Singles Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, March 20.
Earning the honor for the fourth time in his career while drawing his sixth weekly accolade overall, Altman was 3-0 from the fifth position during Wheaton's trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina. He posted wins over regionally-ranked Ithaca College on Monday, Mississippi College on Tuesday and Division II University of Illinois at Springfield on Wednesday.
Scoring the Lyons' lone point against Ithaca, which was ranked 13th in the region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), Altman won 6-4, 7-5. During Wheaton's 5-4 loss to Mississippi College, he collected a 6-2, 7-5 victory before notching a 6-3, 6-2 triumph in his team's 6-3 setback to Illinois-Springfield.
The Lyons are back in action tomorrow afternoon with a road match against non-conference foe Salem State University at 4:00 p.m.
