Wheaton trio sweeps weekly NEWMAC awards

NORTON, Mass. - Three Wheaton College men's tennis players were selected with New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) weekly singles and doubles honors for the week ending on Sunday, March 27.

Junior Neall Oliver (Portland, Maine/Deering) was lauded as the NEWMAC Singles Player of the Week, while senior Gregory Poulin (Boxboro, Mass./Home Schooled) and freshman Dan Sharon (Santa Monica, Calif./Brentwood School) drew top doubles laurels.

Earning his first career singles accolade, Oliver helped lead the Lyons to a 7-2 victory at Salem State University on Tuesday, recording a 6-2, 6-2 triumph from the top singles position.  Poulin, now a three-time doubles honoree, and Sharon, who picked up his first weekly award, combined for an 8-4 victory in the second spot.

Wheaton returns to the courts tomorrow for a non-conference road match at local foe Bridgewater State University at 3:30 p.m.
