BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - The Wheaton College men's tennis team had little difficulty collecting its second straight victory, knocking off host Bridgewater State University, 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon on the Rosen Memorial Courts.
The Lyons improved to 3-4 on the season, while the Bears suffered their first loss, dropping to 2-1.
Senior Brian Krantz (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran) and junior Neall Oliver (Portland, Maine/Deering) notched an 8-2 victory in the top doubles position, as did senior Gregory Poulin (Boxboro, Mass./Home Schooled) and sophomore Dennis Scarpa (Cheshire, Conn./Xavier) in the second spot.
In singles action, freshman Dan Sharon (Santa Monica, Calif./Brentwood School) surrendered just one game en route to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at number four, while Poulin and Scarpa notched a pair of 6-2, 6-0 victories at the third and fifth slots, respectively.
Oliver cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 triumph at first singles, while doubles teammate Krantz won 6-3, 6-2 in the second position. Terrace rounded out play with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at number six.
The Lyons will open their New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) schedule this Saturday when they host Babson College at 1:00 p.m.
