NORTON, Mass. - Wheaton College men's tennis junior Neall Oliver (Portland, Maine/Deering) was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Singles Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, April 17.
Picking up his second singles honor of his career, Oliver helped the Lyons to a 5-4 victory over the United States Coast Guard Academy on Saturday, as his 6-4, 6-4 win from the top singles spot led Wheaton to its first 4-0 start in the conference since 2006.
During his team's 5-0 triumph over non-conference opponent Salve Regina University on Wednesday, Oliver blanked his opponent in the first set before leading the second set by a 2-1 count and not finishing due to the match reaching decision.
A winner in nine straight matches, which matches a 2006 nine-match winning streak, Wheaton hosts non-league foe Endicott College tomorrow at 4:00 p.m.
