NORTON, Mass. - Sophomore Dan Sharon (Santa Monica, Calif./Brentoowd School) and freshman Samuel Jackson (Darien, Conn./Darien) captured singles titles at the Wheaton Invitational Sunday afternoon at the Clack Tennis Courts.
Sharon captured the Flight 1 Singles championship by defeating Corbin Tully of Endicott, 11-0, in the semifinals and Mike Zagame from Bridgewater State in the finals, 6-2, 6-1.
Jackson, meanwhile, defeated Tim Flynn of Endicott 7-6 (8-6), 6-1 in the semifinals of the Flight 2 Singles bracket before downing Esthimer of Bridgewater State in the finals, 6-4, 7-5.
The Lyons Flight 1 Doubles team of junior Kyle Kiernan (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet Regional) and freshman Nishon Radhakrishnan (Amherst, N.H./Bridgton Academy) fell to Reeve Fidler and Nolan Foley of Colby-Sawyer, 9-7. In the consolation round, Kiernan and Radhakrishnan upended Nick DeSisto and Cody Farrell of Bridgewater State, 8-2.
In Flight 2 Doubles action, junior William Beaton (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket) and freshman Brendon Pickering (Merrimack, Mass./Waring School) lost 8-4 to Jesse Gotlib and Sean Bleau of Bridgewater State. They rebounded to post an 8-6 win over Eric Caples and Zach Skymore of Colby-Sawyer in the consolation round.
