Sharon, Terrace compete at USTA/ITA Regional Championship

Williamstown, Mass. – Wheaton College men's tennis sophomores Dan Sharon (Santa Monica, Calif./Brentwood School) and Ned Terrace (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) competed at the 2011 USTA/ITA Regional Championship Friday afternoon at Williams College.

In singles action, Terrace opened the day with a 6-0, 6-1 win over sophomore Rocco Devona (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) of Mitchell College in the opening round. He later suffered a 6-0, 6-3 loss to freshman Ned Mandel (Chevy Chase, Md./The Potomac School) of Trinity (Conn.) in the second round.

Sharon, meanwhile, dropped a 6-0, 6-4 match to junior Brian Oldfield (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands/Antilles) of MIT in the first round. In doubles action, the duo suffered an 8-3 loss in the first round to senior Derrick Angle (Troy, N.Y./LaSalle Institute) and junior Alec Parower (Scarsdale, N.Y./Professional Children's School) of Middlebury.

"The scores are not indicative of how well both Dan and Ned played," said Lyons assistant coach Bill Sadlowski. "There were great points in each match."
