Babson Stops Wheaton, 8-1

Feit, White claim 8-3 victory at No.1 doubles

NORTON, Mass. – The Wheaton College men's tennis team fell to Babson College, 8-1, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Clark Tennis Courts.

Freshmen Jonah Feit (Los Angeles, Calif./Milken Community) and Will White (Nantucket, Mass./Cape Cod Academy) earned an 8-3 triumph at No.1 doubles over Babson sophomores Connor DeFiore (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Saddlebrook) and Ramone Doyley (Kingston, Jamaica/Campion College) for the Lyons only win.

The Beavers took the next two doubles matches as freshmen Victor Vu (Los Angeles, Calif./Brentwood School) and Roberto Perez (Pozuelo de Alarcon, Spain/San Luis de los Franceses) defeated juniors Dan Sharon (Santa Monica, Calif./Brentwood School) and Ned Terrace (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) by an 8-3 decision at No.2. Freshman Saif Rahim (Hong Kong/Pendleton School) and senior Mitchell Henry (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) took down Wheaton senior Dennis Scarpa (Cheshire, Conn./Xavier) and freshman David Gassen (Dusseldorf, Germany/Saddlebrook Prep) at No.3 by an 8-1 score.

Babson swept all six singles matches to run its winning streak to three-straight matches. Henry beat Gassen, 6-3, 1-6, 10-6, at No.4 singles to highlight singles play.

Wheaton (7-5, 1-3 NEWMAC) hosts Endicott College on Tuesday, April 16 for a non-conference match at 4:00 p.m. Babson (8-6, 3-1 NEWMAC) welcomes Suffolk to its campus on Wednesday, April 17 at 3:30 p.m.
