Men's Tennis Opens Spring Break Trip Against Schreiner (TX)

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Wheaton College men's tennis team opened its West Coast trip with a neutral site contest against Schreiner University (Texas), with the Mountaineers earning an 8-1 victory over the Lyons. 

Wheatons lone point came from No. 2 doubles, with Alden Zeff and Jorge Aguirre Martinez defeating Josh Newman and Isaac Vasquez 8-5. 

In singles action, both Jeremiah Ryser (No. 2) and Aguirre Martinez (No. 3) nearly pulled out wins for the Lyons. Ryser dropped his first set to Hoanh Le 6-1, before bouncing back to take the second 7-6 (4), but ultimately fell in the third set with Le capturing a 10-7 win. After falling behind after the first set, Aguirre Martinez blanked Nick Penna 6-0, but then fell 10-4 in the final set. 

Wheaton returns to the court on Thursday, March 16 at Whittier College for a 1 p.m. EST match.
