LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Wheaton College men's tennis team closed out their competition in California on Friday evening by competing against the Occidental College Tigers. The Lyons narrowly escaped with the win before falling, 5-4.
In doubles, Wheaton secured two victories including the No. 1 spot of first-year Jackson Gwinn and sophomore Jeremiah Ryser sealing a, 8-3 mark. At No. 2, senior Alden Zeff and first-year Jorge Aguirre Martinez registered a 9-8(2) final.
The last two remaining victories in the match for the Lyons came in singles action from Gwinn at No. 1 (6-2, 5-7, 6-4) and Ryser at No. 2 (6-2, 7-5).
Wheaton flies back to Massachusetts and will host Trinity (Conn.) on Sunday, March 26 with match time set for 1 p.m.
