Men's Tennis Opens the Season With a 9-0 Win Over UMass.-Dartmouth

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • Wheaton opened the 2018 season with a strong non-conference win over UMass.-Dartmouth sweeping both singles and doubles. 
  • Jorge Aguirre Martinez picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win in the No. 1 singles spot, while also earning a win with Blake Stevens in No 2 doubles. The pair picked up a strong 8-4 win over Tristin Viale and Anthony Joseph. Stevens competed in No. 6 singles, earning a 6-1, 6-0. 
  • Jeremiah Ryser opened his season with a 6-1, 6-0 win in the No. 2 singles position, while playing as one part of the Lyons No. 1 doubles team. Javier Esteban de Celis partnered with Ryser, helping Wheaton earn an 8-4 victory. Esteban won his match in No. 3 singles 6-3 6-3. 
  • Eli Trimbur earned a 6-4, 6-3 win in the No. 4 singles spot, while his doubles partner, Nick Hotary earned a 6-0, 6-3 win in the No. 5 singles spot. The pair also collected a commanding 8-2 win as Wheaton's No. 3 doubles team.
