Men's Tennis Takes Down Regis 8-1

RECORDS: Wheaton (3-3, 0-0 NEWMAC) - Regis (9-4)

LOCATION: Natick, Mass. (Natick Racquet Club) 

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • Wheaton swept doubles, starting with an 8-2 win in the No. 1 spot from Jeremiah Ryser and Javier Esteban de Celis
  • Zach Strempel and Diego Garcia Anton also picked up an 8-2 win, playing as the No. 3 team, while Jorge Aguirre Martinez and Ned Roosevelt collected an 8-1 win in the No. 2 position. 
  • In singles action, Ryser collected a 6-4, 6-3 win (No. 1), while Aguirre Martinez won his match (No. 2) 6-2, 6-1. 
  • Esteeban de Celis (No. 3) earned a 6-1, 6-2 win, while Roosevelt battled against Kyle Dugat in the No. 4 spot. After falling behind after the opening set, Roosevelt battled back winning the second 6-0, before taking the third 10-2. 
  • Strempel rounded out the scoring for the Lyons, earning a 6-3, 6-1 win in teh No. 5 position.
