Men's Tennis Finishes Regular Season With 7-2 Loss Against Babson

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • The Lyons picked up one doubles point with Javier Esteban de Celis and Jeremiah Ryser defeating Brandon Rosenbluth and Chris Kolesnik 8-6 in the top spot. 
  • Both of Wheaton's other doubles teams put up a fight, nearly pulling off victories, but both sides ended up falling in the tiebreaker 9-8 (8-4). 
  • Diego Garcia Anton earned Wheaton its other point, taking down Cameron Grass 8-2 in No. 6 singles. 
  • Jorge Aguirre Martinez nearly pulled out a victory in the top singles spot, falling 7-6 (7-3) in the opening set to Andre Libnic, before pulling out a dominating 6-1 win in the second set. In the third and final set Aguirre Martinez put in a strong performance, but ultimately fell 1-0 (10-7). 

UP NEXT: Men's tennis returns to action on Sunday, April 29 for the first round of the NEWMAC Tournament. Wheaton, who earned the No. 4 seed, will host No. 5 Clark University at 12 p.m. at the Clark Tennis Courts*.
