NORTON, MA- Wheaton College men's outdoor track & field sophomore Cailean Robinson (Newton, MA/Phillips Exeter Academy) was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, April 4.
Earning the weekly honor for the first time, Robinson played a role in three victories, a pair of NCAA Championship qualifications and a school record while helping the Lyons take second out of 14 scoring teams on Saturday at Fitchburg State College's Sheehan Memorial.
Robinson bested the 73-runner 100-meter dash field with a time of 10.94 and 71-athlete 200M competition in 21.59, breaking a year-old school mark in the 200 while provisionally qualifying for the NCAA meet. During the 4x100 relay, Robinson helped Wheaton to victory and another NCAA cut while coming within 0.12 seconds of an automatic mark, as the quartet finished in 41.12.
The Lyons return to action next Saturday when they compete at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell's Davis Invitational.
