LOWELL, MA- The Wheaton College men's and women's outdoor track & field teams recorded several top-10 performances during Saturday's Davis Invitational at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell's Cushing Field Complex.
Freshman Sam Fear (Bath, ME/North Yarmouth Academy) broke his own school record in the javelin, as his heave of 180' 2" was good for second overall. Sophomore Sheldon Allen (Dorchester, MA/Charlestown) was the runner up in the 110-meter hurdles event.
Junior Colin Fahey (Waltham, MA/Weston) and sophomores Jason Browne (Brooklyn, NY/Boys and Girls), Miles Ketchum (South Lee, MA/Monument Mountain Regional) and Kyle Ricci (Warwick, RI/Bishop Hendricken) combined on a third-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay.
Fahey came in seventh during the 800M run, and freshman Cameron Souza (Norton, MA/Saint Sebastian's School) tied for eighth in the high jump.
On the women's side, sophomore Ashley Dell'Aira (Shoreham, NY/Shoreham-Wading River) and freshman Amanda Claflin (Pembroke, MA/Pembroke) placed fourth in the triple and long jumps, respectively, while sophomore Mickey Jusme (Providence, RI/Classical) took sixth in the long.
Freshman Samantha Bennett (Weymouth, MA/Weymouth) notched a sixth-place finish during the 800M run and joined senior Katie Pratt (Litchfield, CT/Litchfield) and juniors Meagan Jennett (Charlottesville, VA/Western Albemarle) and Stephany Perkins (Monmouth, ME/Monmouth Academy) for a seventh-place mark in the 4x400M relay. Jennett came in ninth in the 400M dash.
The Lyons head to the western side of the state next Saturday for the Springfield College Invitational.
