BOSTON, Mass. - The Wheaton College men's track & field team's 4x400-meter relay squad highlighted the Lyons' showing at Saturday's non-scoring Valentine Invitational, as the quartet notched an NCAA Championship provisional qualifying time at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center.
Comprised of senior Mark Williamson (Vienna, Va./James Madison), junior Miles Ketchum (South Lee, Mass./Monument Mountain Regional) and sophomores Howard Manly (Ayer, Mass./Lawrence Academy) and Ben Miklovich (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester), the 4x400M relay team won their heat in 3:18.93, which was good for 12th overall among 41 finishers.
Miklovich was victorious in his heat during the 200M dash with a time of 22.21, placing 13th overall. Freshman Michael Read (Barrington, R.I./Barrington) was the top collegian in his 60M dash heat in 7.03, marking the seventh-fastest time among 89 finishers. He then ran 7.09 in the finals. During the 200M dash, Read placed second in his heat in 22.68.
Wheaton begins the championship portion of its season next weekend at the two-day NCAA New England Championship at New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) school Springfield College.
