Women place third, men seventh at Springfield Invitational
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Wheaton College women's indoor track & field team placed third (out of 10) while the men placed seventh (out of nine) at the Springfield Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Springfield College Field House.
Sophomore Ashante Little (Seabrook, N.H./Winnacunnet) placed first in the 400m dash (58.94) and took second in the 200m dash (26.69). Senior Ashley Dell'Aira (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham) won the triple jump (37' 9 1/2") and grabbed third in the long jump (16' 10 1/2") while sophomore Mollie Lane (Hanover, Mass./Hanover) captured first-place in the high jump (5' 4 1/4").
Other top finishers for Wheaton included senior Didine Jusme (Providence, R.I./Classical) in the 60m hurdles (second, 8.93) and senior Lauren Cardarelli (Cranston, R.I./La Salle) in the 400m dash (third, 1:00.36).
Additionally, the Lyons 4x400m relay team of senior Mickey Jusme (Providence, R.I./Classical), junior Amanda Claflin (Pembroke, Mass./Pembroke), sophomores Meredith Scannell (San Marino, Calif./San Marino) and Lane, and freshmen Johanna Jimenez (Brooklyn, N.Y./Boys & Girls) and Stephanie Raymond (Peabody, Mass./Peabody Veterans Memorial) placed third (4:14.72).
Senior Miles Ketchum (South Lee, Mass./Monumental Regional) won the 400m dash (52.06) on the men's side. Junior Ben Miklovich (New Gloucester, Maine/Gray-New Gloucester) finished right behind Ketchum in second place (52.11).
The Lyons compete at the Boston Indoor Games this Friday at the Reggie Lewis Center.
