Mader competes for Lyons at USATF New England Championship
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Sophomore Mollie Lane (Hanover, Mass./Hanover) placed first in the women's high jump (5' 4 1/4") for Wheaton College, which saw its men's and women's indoor track & field teams compete at the USATF New England Championship Sunday afternoon at Harvard University.
In the women's weight throw, senior Tope Waheed (East Providence, R.I./East Providence) finished second (51' 8 1/4") while junior Sylvia Okoye (Stanhope, N.J./Pope John XXIII) placed sixth (41' 7 1/4").
Freshman Nichole Haar (East Providence, R.I./East Providence) recorded a 10th-place finish in the 600m hurdles (9.97). Sophomores Meredith Scannell (San Marino, Calif./San Marino) and Amber Spencer (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) each placed 12th in their events as Scannell competed in the 800m run (2:25.69) while Spencer took part in the 200m dash (27.35).
Senior Savannah Geasey (Portsmouth, R.I./Portsmouth) finished 14th in the 3,000m run (10:59.50) and classmate Mickey Jusme (Providence, R.I./Classical) was 13th in the long jump (15' 2").
On the men's side, junior Karl Mader (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) competed in the one mile run and placed 26th (4:38.99).
The Lyons return to action on Friday when they compete at the All New England Championship in Boston.
