Wheaton harriers continue competition at UMass-Dartmouth Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The Wheaton College men's and women's cross country teams continued competition at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday. 

The men placed 18th among 36 teams with 538 points, while the women tied for 29th out of 39 squads with 864.  Keene State College captured the men's crown, and New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) member Wellesley College won on the women's side. 

Senior Nick Kacher (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) had the top showing for the men, navigating the 8,000-meter course in 25:30 for a 27th-place finish.  Classmate Colin Fahey (Waltham, Mass./Weston) took 77th, while sophomore Michael Richard (Chicopee, Mass./Holyoke Catholic) and freshman Nick Emard (Griswold, Conn./Griswold) were the next two Lyons to finish.

For the women, juniors Savannah Geasey (Portsmouth, R.I./Portsmouth) and Taylor Wills (Kinderhook, N.Y./Ichabod Crane) came across the finish line 10 seconds apart, while classmate Rachel Scavera (North Bend, Ore./North Bend), freshman Hillary Wilson (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) and sophomore Elizabeth Urena (Maywood, Calif./Bell) occupied the next three spots for Wheaton.

The Lyons will take next Saturday off before traveling to Keene State College on Saturday, October 2, for an 11:00 a.m. start.
