Junior earns first career weekly honor
NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College junior Emily Berardi (Boston, Mass./Boston Latin) has earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week accolades.
Berardi went 3-0 on the week with one complete game over 15 innings, yielding ten hits and three walks alongside eight strikeouts. Offensively, Berardi hit .444/.500/.667 (.avg/.obp/.slg) with six runs, one double, one homer, three RBI, two walks and a stolen base.
On the season, Berardi is 6-1 in the circle (eight starts) with one save, a 1.60 earned run average (ERA) and 31 strikeouts in 43 2/3 innings pitched. Berardi also leads the Lyons with a .483 batting average (minimum 50 at-bats), a .516 on-base percentage, a .690 slugging percentage, six doubles, two home runs, 20 RBI and three stolen bases.
Wheaton (25-3, 9-1 NEWMAC), ranked No. 21 in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top 25 poll, takes on Roger Williams this Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader on the road at 3:30 p.m.
