NORTON, Mass. – The No. 17 Wheaton College softball team has earned an at-large bid into the 2015 NCAA Softball Championship. The Lyons, who currently stand at 30-8 entering the tournament, were also selected to be one of the 16 regional hosts in the 62-team tournament and will welcome Johnson & Wales University, Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU), and Husson University to campus this Friday through Sunday, May 8-10.

The Wheaton Regional will feature a double-elimination format with the winner advancing to the Super Regional, a best-of-three series scheduled for May 15-16.

ECSU (29-6-1) will play Husson (26-11) in the opening game of the regional on Friday at 1 p.m., while Wheaton will play Johnson & Wales University (21-14) in the second game of the day at 3:30 p.m. Saturday's scheduled will feature games at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday's games that will decide a winner from the Wheaton Regional are scheduled for noon and 2:30 p.m. (if necessary game). A full breakdown of each can be found below.

Admission for this week's NCAA Softball Tournament Regional will be $5 for adults, $3 for students/senior citizens/veterans, and $2 for children under 12.

Johnson & Wales, ECSU and Husson all won their respective conference tournament championships to earn automatic berths into the NCAA Tournament.

The Wildcats claimed their first-ever GNAC Championship title earlier this spring, while the Warriors captured their fourth conference title in program history. Wheaton will be making its second-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament later this week. Last season, the Lyons also received an at-large bid into the tournament after compiling a 30-10 overall record.
