KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Wheaton College softball team competed against the No. 7 ranked Rowan University Profs, but fell 17-0 on Wednesday. The Lyons went on to battle the Ramapo College Roadrunners, but dropped 3-0 to conclude day four of the Rebel Spring Games.
The Lyons fall to 2-6 overall on the season.
GAME ONE- No. 7 Rowan 17, Wheaton 0
It was an even battle heading into the third inning as each team offered up no hits. Rowan started to make their mark in the top of the fourth when Jesse DeDomenico hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring in Rosalie Hood for their first run. The Profs would score one more run before the inning was over and from there score three runs in the fifth and 12 runs in the sixth.
The Lyons weren't able to answer back as they went one-two-three in the bottom of the sixth as the Profs earned the victory.
GAME TWO- Ramapo 3, Wheaton 0
In game two of the day, Wheaton shut out the Roadrunners during the first four innings, but Ramapo came back to have a huge fifth, scoring all three runs of the game off of two singles to the outfield and one fielder's choice.
Sophomore pitcher Shelbi Wilson registered four strikeouts.
Wheaton takes on Illinois College (9 a.m.) and St. Norbert (11:15 a.m.) next on Thursday to wrap up their final two games in Florida.
