GAME ONE: Wheaton 1 - Springfield 16 

RECORDS: Wheaton (4-13, 2-5 NEWMAC) - Springfield (14-5, 2-3 NEWMAC)

LOCATION: Norton, Mass. (Clark Softball Field)

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • Jade Assad and Emily Schlapak finished 2-for-3 from the with both athletes reaching on doubles during one of their at bats. 
  • Springfield jumped out to an early lead with a four run first inning, which they followed with a single run in the second and the fourth innings to take a 6-0 lead. 
  • Wheaton plated its only run of the contest in the fourth inning, which started with a single from Lily Ongkiko. First-year Clara DeCarvalho knocked in the Lyons run with a bases loaded RBI groundout that plated Shelbi Wilson
  • The Pride added two more runs in the sixth, before blowing the game wide open in the seventh with a huge eight run inning.

  • Springfield earned its second win of the day in five innings, starting once again with a four-run first inning. 
  • The Pride added two more runs in the second inning, before tacking on three in the fourth and the final run of the day in the fifth. 
  • Wheaton received hits from Lindsay Whittles, Ongkiko, Assad and first-year Allicyn Cole, with Whittles and Cole both finishing with doubles.
