BOSTON, Mass. - Wheaton College sophomore first-baseman Jade Assad was named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) First-Team as announced by the league office. The all-conference nod is the first of Assad's career.
The sophomore played in all 36 of the Lyons games, finishing the season ranked first in the NEWMAC in doubles (21), fifth in overall batting average (.418) and third in conference batting average (.455), 10th in overall on-base percentage (.449) and fifth in NEWMAC OBP (.492), while finishing sixth in overall bases (72) and seventh in conference bases (39). Defensively, Assad finished first in the conference in fielding percentage (1.000).
On the national stage, Assad finished ranked third in doubles and seventh in doubles per game (0.58).
Wheaton ended the season with a 13-23 overall record and 6-12 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) standing.
