Senior Stacey Kelleher knocked home the eventual winning run in the top of the seventh inning of the second game of a NEWMAC softball doubleheader on Friday, helping Wheaton earn a 3-2 win over WPI and salvage a twinbill split on Class of 1893 Field.

In the first series meeting since 1997, the Wheaton softball team was swept by visiting Brandeis, 10-5 and 3-2 during a twinbill on Tuesday at Clark Field.

Wheaton to hold fundraiser during Saturday games
The Wheaton baseball and softball teams will hold fundraisers on Saturday during their 12:00 p.m. home doubleheaders, as the baseball team is set to promote awareness for WRC, the largest effort in the world of men working to end violence against women, while softball is holding a Cans for Cancer bottle and can drive in support of former player Kate Pinzino '02, who is fighting the disease.

Fay, O'Connell help Wheaton salvage NEWMAC split at Smith
Freshman Emily O'Connell smacked her first two collegiate hits while scoring the go-ahead run in the fifth inning, and classmate Mary Fay spun six shutout frames to push the Wheaton softball team past Smith, 6-0 on Saturday and salvage a split of a NEWMAC twinbill.

The Wheaton softball team took a 2-1 advantage into the late innings in both ends of a NEWMAC doubleheader against league power Wellesley on Sunday at Clark Field before coming up short, 6-2 in the opener and 4-2 in the nightcap.
