Synchronized Swimming Takes on Stanford and Incarnate Word

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Wheaton College synchronized swimming team traveled to Texas to take on the Stanford University Cardinal and University of Incarnate Word Cardinals in a figures competition, which was followed by performance events. 

Wheaton had three strong showings in the figures, finishing just one point behind Incarnate Word in the "A Element Routine", while nearly edging out Standford in the "B" Figures. With a win in the "C" Figures, the Lyons outscored both Cardinal(s), finishing with 28 points to Stanford's 12 and Incarnate Words 10. 

Wheaton was forced to enter the performance round short handed but still turned in solid scores. Maxie Zimmerman and Margy Mackin were the Lyons top pair in the duet, finishing with a score of 71.1667. Emma Willing and Elizabeth Pugliese also competed in the duet, finishing with a score of 66.9667. 

Zimmerman and Mackin also competed in the solo routine with Zimmerman turning in a score of 74.2000, while Mackin finished with a 71.8333. 

The Lyons return home for their next performance, hosting the Wheaton Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. in Balfour Natatorium.
