NORTON, Mass. – The Wheaton College women's basketball team will host a fundraiser to benefit the DJ Dream Fund during the Wheaton Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday, November 19, at 2 p.m. at Haas Athletic Center. The tournament will feature the Lyons, Lasell College, Drew University, and Haverford College.
The DJ Dream Fund is a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to the memory of Danroy "DJ" Henry Jr. Their mission is to share DJ's love of sports by providing resources that will help promising children throughout Massachusetts participate in a sport of their choice.
The goal of the DJ Dream Fund is to promote healthy lifestyles for children and young adults through wellness programs and athletics. They strive to empower young adults in need and those who demonstrate a work ethic that reflects that of DJ's with the necessary resources to achieve their dreams.
"The Henry family has been a part of our community and program for the past several years," said Wheaton head coach Melissa Hodgdon. "We are happy that we can support them and promote the fund that is a reminder of what a special person DJ was. He would love that his legacy is helping kids go to camp. We loved having his sister, Amber, at Wheaton basketball camp every summer and are excited for her to sit on the bench with us November 19."
T-shirts benefiting the DJ Dream Fund will be sold in the lobby during the tournament, and educational materials will also be available. Click HERE for more information on the DJ Drean Fund.
