NORTON, MA- Wheaton College women's lacrosse rising junior Hailey Colburn (Concord, NH/Concord) tacked on another regional award by being named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star third team after drawing Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) honors last week.
Colburn is one of 37 players to earn ECAC accolades, as 12 were placed on each the second and third teams. She was among seven New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) student-athletes to land on any of the three squads.
An all-league first teamer, Colburn became the first player in program history and only NEWMAC player this spring to post at least 50 goals and 25 assists, finishing with 52 tallies and 26 helpers. She ranked second in the league in points per game (4.88) and goals per game (3.25) and third in assists per contest (1.62). Colburn was also first in free-position goals per game (1.19) and tied for fourth in game-winning tallies (3) while leading the Lyons in caused turnovers (21) and placing second in draw controls (36).
Colburn recorded at least two points in all 16 games, tallying four or more 12 times. She posted the second-highest assist total in the school's annals, coming within three of the 10-year-old program record, and finished ninth in points (78).
The Lyons ended the season at 5-11 overall and 2-4 in the NEWMAC, falling in the opening round of the league tournament. Five of Wheaton's losses came by four goals or less.
