NORTON, Mass. - Wheaton College women's lacrosse senior Tess Meyer (Concord, N.H./Concord) was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week for the first time in her career for the week ending on Sunday, April 10.
Meyer broke an 11-year-old program record with six assists in one game while leading her Lyons to a 2-1 week with eight goals, seven assists and 11 ground balls.
In Tuesday's 17-9 win over Gordon College, Meyer turned in a career-high nine-point game with a hat trick, six assists and seven ground balls. During Saturday's 22-9 victory at Mount Holyoke College, she finished with four markers, two ground balls and an assist. In Thursday's 16-2 loss to 18th-ranked Amherst College, Meyer scored once while scooping up two ground balls.
Meyer paces the team with 16 assists and is tied for first with 20 ground balls. Her 33 points are tied for second, while her 17 goals and nine caused turnovers are both good for third.
A winner in three of its last four games, Wheaton is 5-6 overall and 2-1 in league play. The Lyons will host reigning four-time NEWMAC Tournament champion Babson College tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
