NORTON, Mass. - Wheaton College senior captains Emily Hough (Norwich, Vt./Hanover) and Alessia Viscomi (Newton, Mass./Newton North) are headed to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl on Saturday at Merrimack College at 2:30 p.m.
The Senior Bowl consists of two teams with players from NCAA Divisions I, II and III. A forward, Hough was the top overall vote getter among 20 Division III players, while Viscomi picked up the most votes among backs. Wheaton's duo was among nine New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) players selected for the contest.
Hough finished out her illustrious career placing among the school's top players of all time, ranking fourth in program history in assists (40), fifth in points (124) and tied for fifth in goals (42). Posting a team-best seven helpers this fall alongside a team-high-tying 27 points, she also had 10 markers and a pair of game-winners. Hough, who is the only Lyon to be named to an all-conference first team all four years, is a three-time all-region player as well as an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star.
A four-year defensive mainstay, Viscomi anchored a unit this fall that posted 12 shutouts with a 0.65 goals against average. As the only Lyon to start all 24 games, Viscomi aided a defense that allowed more than one goal just three times. Offensively, she tied for third on the team with five assists while placing fourth in goals and points with five and 15, respectively. A National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America player her sophomore year, Viscomi is a four-time all-league selection and a three-time all-region choice.
In four seasons, the tandem led the Lyons to four NCAA Tournament appearances, a trio of NEWMAC regular season championships and one conference tournament title. During their careers, Wheaton went 73-15-8 overall and 28-5-3 in league play.
