NORTON, Mass. – For the third time this season, Wheaton College senior goalkeeper Lindsay Leddy (Warwick, R.I./Wheeler School) has been named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
Leddy recorded three shutout victories last week to help the Lyons improve to 15-2-3 and 7-1-1 against NEWMAC opponents. She made five saves in a 1-0 win at Keene State on Tuesday, six saves in a 1-0 win at Salem State on Thursday, and one save in a 9-0 win over Coast Guard on Senior Day this past Saturday. Saturday's win over the Bears secured the No. 2 seed in this week's NEWMAC Tournament for the Lyons, who will head to Springfield, Mass. on Saturday for a semifinal match with either No. 3 MIT or No. 6 Wellesley. Earlier this season, the Lyons scored a 2-0 win over MIT at Mirrione Stadium and posted a 2-0 win over the Blue in Wellesley, Mass.
