NORTON, Mass. – Wheaton College women's soccer senior Jessica Stuart (Weymouth, Mass./Weymouth) has been named to the 2011 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Academic Team.
Stuart is a biology major and psychology minor who holds a 3.55 grade point average (GPA). A repeat selection, Stuart appeared in 19 matches for the Lyons this fall and scored a goal against Coast Guard on Oct. 29.
"Jess has been a terrific student all four years at Wheaton," said Lyons head coach Luis Reis. "I am happy for her academic recognition. She is a great example of what a true student-athlete is. She is a very determined young lady who is committed to academic excellence."
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2011 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
The Lyons (15-3-3) earned their 12th consecutive berth into the NCAA Tournament on Monday and travel to Geneva, N.Y. this weekend for a first round match with Salisbury University at 1:30 p.m. The game will be played on the campus of William Smith College on Saturday.
