Late Goal Propels Women's Soccer Past Castleton, 2-1

THE RUNDOWN:  

  • Wheaton took ten shots in the first half compared to the Spartans' five, but neither team could convert and the score stayed knotted at zero heading into the second. 
  • The second period got off to a hot start, as senior midfielder Megan Healy and Makenzi Bellando traded goals 27 seconds apart in the 46th minute. 
  • The game would be deadlocked at one all the way into the 80th minute until Kaylee Sye lifted Wheaton to 2-1 with a helper from Healy. 
  • Bronwen Hopwood had a chance to score with 3:33 left on the clock but was unable to convert. 
  • Alexa Barbagallo picked up the win, her first of the seaon, after notching a save in the first 45 minutes. Leann Wolf played the second half, coming up with two saves.
  • Rachel Shambo falls to 0-1 despite making 11 stops.
