Katy Labella enters her first season as an assistant coach with the Wheaton College women's soccer program in 2017-18.
Labella has been coaching club with Valeo FC for three years. She has played an important role in the development and growth of the girl’s program. Labella has been the head coach of multiple age groups, laying the foundation for many player’s soccer careers.
Labella entered the college coaching world as a volunteer coach for Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Mass. She helped guide the Leopards defensive unit to an impressive .590 goals against average in the 2016 season.
As a player, Labella was a standout and a leader throughout her career. She played club soccer for South Shore Select where she won the 2006 & 2007 Massachusetts State Championship. She went on the play division one soccer at Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA. She quickly became a stalwart defender for the Red Flash. As a sophomore, Labella helped lead her team to a NEC tournament championship and the team’s first NCAA appearance in the school’s history. As a junior and senior, Labella was named captain and helped guide the team to back-to-back NEC regular season championships. Her junior and senior year, she was recognized and honored for her standout play by being named to the NEC all-tournament team.
