Wright takes part in one-meter dive competition at NCAA Championship
MINNEAPOLIS, MN- Sophomore Julia Wright (Pomfret, VT/Northfield Mount Hermon School) became the first diver in the 19-year history of the Wheaton College women's swimming & diving program to compete at an NCAA Championship on Thursday during the second day of the four-day meet at the University of Minnesota's University Aquatic Center.
Wright dove from the one-meter board and will also compete in the three-meter event on Saturday, with preliminaries set to begin at 1:00 p.m. and finals starting at 6:00 p.m.
On Thursday, Wright tallied 351.00 points during the preliminaries, falling 15.10 points short of qualifying for the consolation competition and thus being eligible for an All-America honor. She was fourth among New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) divers as one of only six from New England institutions competing at NCAAs.
